Looking Down Into The Open Pit of Dames or "Vandal" Cave
Exiting From The Lower Section of Sick Bat Cave
LOCATION: (lat. 28°42'32.8" N., long. 82°26'34.9" W.)
Dames cave is located in the Withlacoochee State Forest, just North of the Citrus/Hernando County line.
DESCRIPTION:
There are at least 4 cave entrances along
the main trail (trail 22), three are clustered together around the huge opening pictured
above. A fourth is a little farther East down the trail. There is
real nice one called Peace Cave a 1/4 mile down the trail that heads North of the
main cluster.
I've given you the location of the sacrificial cave, and that will be the end of it.
Once you visit Dames, you will understand why there are no "lists" of numbers or directions
to the other caves...Internet search engines may turn up pictures, but little more. IF you are a true
spelunker and are willing to put in the effort you will find the others on your own:
